The 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Special Edition was an exterior option for the 1977 and 1978 model year Trans Am. Also known as "Blackbird", the Special Edition was available with custom gold interior and exterior trims for the coupe and T-top models. It was priced higher than the simultaneously built Formula model. The car gained popularity for its appearance in the 1977 action comedy film Smokey and the Bandit.
