The antimatter beam is a weapon of destructive power. One of these was mounted on the Icarus satellite weapon as a fail-safe mechanism. When an alternate-universe version of Ynot attempted to use the Icarus to destroy Roxtus, the fail-safe mechanism was activated, and the Makuta was disintegrated.
