Sweden is a former Scandinavian country which was divided between the Kingdom of Denmark and the French Grand Duchy of Scandinavia in 1824. Prior to this, Sweden had been a declining European power that, in 1813, came under the control of the Bernadotte family, which rules as the ducal family to this day.
