The revolving couch, popularly dubbed the "swallowing sofa", was a fictional piece of furniture modified for espionage purposes to envelop an individual. The device was developed by the British Secret Intelligence Service's (SIS/MI6) research and development division, Q Branch, and appeared briefly in EON Productions' 1987 James Bond film The Living Daylights. It would later make an appearance in the 1998 video-game James Bond 007.
