was one of the most favored and most and successful military commanders serving Tokugawa Ieyasu in the late-Sengoku period. He is regarded as one of the Four Guardians of the Tokugawa (Tokugawa-ShitennÅ). along with Honda Tadakatsu, Ii Naomasa, and Sakakibara Yasumasa.
