Edsel Frank is a mundane and friend of Dug Smith, though he had a crush on Dug's girlfriend, Pia Putz. He introduced Dug to the game, Companions of Xanth, and made a bet with him that he would like the game. If Edsel won, he got Dug's girlfriend. Edsel married Pia, however, their marriage was rocky. Their marriage improved dramatically after their adventure in Xanth. Edsel is a computer programmer. He has a brother named Bentley Frank.
