Established in 1868 as the Truro Fire Brigade. In 2001 as part of a review of emergency services by the Town Of Truro, The Truro Fire Service was formed to encompass the career members and the volunteer fire brigade. The name of the brigade was changed to the Truro Volunteer fire Brigade at this time. All emergencies are handled under the banner of the Truro Fire Service which encompasses a career fire chief, a fire inspector, 11 firefighter engineers, two volunteer Deupty Chiefs, three Captains, three Lieutenants and 30 volunteer firefighters.
