Podzol is a block introduced in the 1.7 update. It occurs naturally in Mega Taiga Biomes. Podzol, like all grass blocks, will spread naturally to other grass/dirt blocks. It can only be obtained legitimately in survival mode with the Silk Touch enchantment.
