The J-line was a line of genetic slaves bred by Manpower Incorporated of Mesa. J-lines, the most popular of Manpower's slave types, were bred to be technical workers, created with an emphasis on mental capability in mechanical things, as well as physical strength. W.E.B. Du Havel, or J-16b-79-2/3, was an escaped J-line. (CS1) The J-11 sub-designation pointed out that the slave in question had been bred with technical work of an accounting and record-keeping nature in mind. (CS2)
