Gene Makowsky (born April 17, 1973 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a politician and a retired professional Canadian football offensive lineman who played 17 seasons for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He was selected in the second round of the 1995 CFL Draft from the University of Saskatchewan. Makowsky helped the U of S Huskies to two Hardy Cup Championships in his four-year tenure at the University, as well as being named to the Canada West All Star team in 1994. Makowsky has played in 266 games in his 15 years as a Roughrider, second most in franchise history, earning the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award in 2004 and 2005.
