Vannevar Bush was the director of the Office of Scientific Research and Development, which oversaw the development of the atomic bomb through the Manhattan Project alongside the United States Army, with the support of the United Kingdom and Canada. In 1943, he and Major General Leslie Groves interviewed Doc Brown for a position with the Manhattan Project. Despite a disastrous interview, Doc was awarded the position.
