In this chapter, Eragon learns of dwarf culture in Celbedeil, in Tarnag. He is taught about their deities, their religion and how the deities brought the races to Alagaësia. Gannel, his teacher, also tells him about coral and how rocks grow before giving him a necklace to ward against scrying.
