As Paul is able to forgive his mother, Diane begins to wonder if she did the right thing reporting Val to the police. Meanwhile, Nicola is still annoyed that Simon misled her about his job and begs Rodney to give him a loan to fund his business venture instead. Rodney agrees but Simon refuses the gesture, realising that Nicola is behind it and not wanting to accept charity.
