Out On My Own was the Dutch entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen performed by Michelle. The song is a dramatic ballad, with Michelle describing her sense of freedom at being "out on my own" and able to take control of her own life. Michelle performed the song barefoot. The song was performed first on the night, preceding Iceland. At the close of voting, it finished in 18th place. Due to the poor finish, the country was ineligible to enter the next Contest, but was re-admitted the following year.
