José Doofenshmirtz was the grandfather of Heinz Doofenshmirtz, son of Gretel Doofenshmirtz, and the father of Heinz's father. Gretel passed down the family recipe to him, which, according to Heinz, was a "weird story." He then passed down the Doofenshmirtz Meatloaf recipe to Heinz's mother ("Meatloaf Surprise").
