Despite its proximity to Garmillas, a significant Garmillas presence is not maintained at Epidora. In 2199, the Earth battleship Yamato takes advantage of this and warps to Epidora, in order to hide its entry into the Salezar system and plan a safe approach to Iscandar. Nevertheless, the ship is quickly detected and fired upon with a wave motion gun ("The Planet That We Head For"). The beam misses Yamato but hits Epidora, blasting a portion of the planet's mass into space and causing the remainder to collapse ("One Man's War").
