Lupaza was a member of the Shakaar resistance cell during the Cardassian Occupation of Bajor. Lupaza was romantically involved with Furel and was good friends with Kira Nerys and Shakaar Edon. When Lupaza turned fourteen and had her ih'tanu ceremony, her parents announced her betrothal to a local boy. The boy later left before the wedding, with his family, to work for the Cardassians.
