After another bitter row with Cain, Charity tells her lover that she has had enough of his childish ways and is moving out. Indignant, Cain later calls her bluff and visits Charity at work, emptying sacks of her belongings onto the floor. An argument ensues and quickly turns nasty when Cain pins Charity to the wall and is about to slap her. Matthew, Jimmy and Tom enter just in time and are quick to free startled Charity from Cain’s clutches and send him packing. Shaken, Charity works the attack to her advantage, lapping up the sympathy that Tom offers. Thoughtful Tom takes pity on her circumstances and, despite being wary of her reputation, he asks her if she wants to stay in the spare room at Holdgate Farm.
