Having been exiled from the Roman Empire in 130 A.D., large groups of the roman elite, along with soldiers and Germanic slaves, moved eastward toward India, following a newly opened trade route to the east. The Romans hoped to found a new city-state further from mainland Rome; they had fallen out of favor with the established Roman Emperor, Hadrian, and were exiled from Rome 'until the end of time.' A Roman Elite by the name of Xerik, or Xericus in latin maintained order within the group, leading them further east without much incident.
