Peel started work for the station in 1987 and continued working until 2003, by that time the station had already changed its name to Radio Mafia. The name to Radio Mafia in 1990 disappointed Peel and on the Partners In Dispute programme, recorded for BFBS in 1992, he described it as a terrible name.
