On the fourth day of November 2008, the State of Michigan partook in a presidential election as part of the general election cycle. The candidates for the office of the president were Chuck Baldwin, Bob Barr, John McCain, Cynthia McKinney, Ralph Nader, and Barack Obama. The prize was the sum of Michigan's 17 electoral votes. In the end, Barack Obama defeated all other candidates in Michigan on his way to winning the presidency. Chuck Baldwin was listed on the ballot under the U.S. Taxpayer's Party—the local wing of the Constitution Party.
