After the death of Melody's beloved father, Chester, Melody's mother Haille leaves her to live with family she has never met, while she goes off to be an actress. Now melody is stuck with her uncle Jacob (who views everything as a sin), her aunt Sara, who is still saddnedd by the recent death of her daughter Laura, May who is deaf, and Cary who is Laura's twin brother and is distraught over his sisters recent passing.
