The 1997 The Winston was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) All-Star event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 17, 1997. Jeff Gordon, driving a special car named T-Rex, drove to one of the most dominating victories in the event, holding off Bobby Labonte by one second. Gordon also went onto the season championship.
