Mechagodzilla, more formally known as G-FORCE Unit #003 and also called Mechagodzilla 1993 is a mechanical doppelganger of Godzilla (but not like Mechagodzilla) created to defend humanity from kaiju.Or at least, that was the goal.Mechagodzilla was based on the skeleton of another Godzilla, and used the same DNA-computed biobrain that Kiryu did....This backfired, and MG2 did his own thing with Godzilla; completely ignoring military orders.
