I was unable to determine why, but one could assume though that it was to encourage the consumption of healthy milk. I discovered some fun stuff while looking. Fun facts: Three states picked milk as their state beverage ten years before Mississippi. A total of 19 states have milk as their state beverage. Other state beverages include juice, Kool-Aid, and Alabama.
