In 1998 he appeared in the Star Trek-themed black comedy Free Enterprise, which also starred William Shatner. Hobson has also guest-starred in Doctor Doctor (with Matt Frewer and Brian George), A Different World (with Bumper Robinson), and Step by Step (with Jason Marsden). In 2008, Hobson starred in the films Daydreams and Bar Starz. He is currently in a starring role as Shout the Keyboardist in the Nick Jr. show The Fresh Beat Band.
