Livarthia is a magocracy, ruled by a council of nine mages. The nation has a long history of powerful mages, both good and evil. Livarthia was founded by human slaver wizards from the southern cities of Madimu and Mardina two thousand years ago, and many of its towns are built upon the ruins of elven, gnomish, orc and lizardfolk settlements. Being a magocracy, Livarthia has many schools teaching the arcane art, and has one of the world’s largest collection of magical items, scrolls and books. The heroine Lil is known to have come from Livarthia.
