The Athyra Guard is the Imperial Guard of the Dragaeran Empire as it is known under an Athyra emperor. Members of the guard in these times must also be sorcerors and possibly even wizards — although exceptions may be made for soldiers who have provided notable service, such as G'aereth. The shifting of the cycle from the Athyra to the Phoenix directly caused Khaavren (as well as Pel, Tazendra, and Aerich) to travel to Dragaera City to join the newly forming Phoenix Guard, since the requirement for knowing sorcery was removed.
