Olav Lindstrom was the Swedish-born Secretary-General of the United Nations at the time of the Visitors' arrival. He greeted John on top of the UN building in New York City and held out his hand in friendship. (V: The Original Miniseries) He worked closely with Lauren Stewart to facilitate relationships with the Visitors but became suspicious of their true intentions and worked behind the scenes with the resistance. He also had knowledge of dealing from a position of weakness, so he attempted to counsel President Morrow. (V: The Second Generation)
