When Natalie Osborn witnessed the destructive force of the Carnage symbiote first hand, she decided to use it to get revenge on Peter Parker once and for all. She attacked SHIELD with her newly formed team of super-villain and tried to get the symbiote, but in the chaos Cletus Kassidy escaped his cell and reunited with the symbiote, becoming Carnage once more. After the Avengers defeated them, they were all sentenced to life on the R.A.F.T., a SHIELD super-prison at sea.
