At the close of the Four Years War (late 2250s), the USS Patton was part of a number of Starfleet vessels pursuing defeated Klingon forces. On the way, the force discovered the Orion Colony of Namezk, recently freed by the withdrawing Klingons. The Patton detached to make a complete survey and made first contact with the inhabitants. The Orions there were eager to trade with the Federation and happily provided the Starfleet forces with useful information on Klingon movements towards Kolm-an.
