Former Southend United striker Matt Harrold returned to haunt his old team when he scored an equaliser for Rovers just five minutes after coming on as a 72nd-minute replacement for Chris Zebroski. Southend, who were top of the League Two table going into the game, included two former Rovers teammates in their squad. Luke Daniels, who started in goal for The Shrimpers, had spent four months on loan in Bristol the previous season, where he played alongside Jean-Paul Kalala, who was among Southend's substitutes for this match.
