He played Junior "B" hockey in Ontario in 1936-37 and then moved to Great Britain and played a season for the Harringay Greyhounds. Jones then returned to North America and played 34 games over three seasons for the Detroit Red Wings over three seasons. Most of his time was spent in the minor pros. In February 1943 he was accquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs and played 16 games for them. Jones then played for the senior Toronto Army Daggers and Kingston Army Frontenacs in 1943-44. The nhext two years were spent in the Canadian military.
