Disney XD is a Canadian English language Category B specialty channel. It is wholly owned by Astral Media. The channel launched on June 1, 2011 in both standard and high definition, as well as a video on demand platform. As with its counterparts in the U.S. and elsewhere, Disney XD consists of live-action and animated programming for kids aged 6–14, in particular, aimed at boys. Unlike similar sister-channels, Family and its multiplex channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD is an ad-supported channel.
