The 1977 Wilkes 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at North Wilkesboro Speedway on October 7, 1977. Darrell Waltrip dominated the event, leading 189 of the 400 laps in route to a 7.2-second victory on Cale Yarborough. Yarborough, the points leader, now held a 293-point championship lead on Richard Petty (24th).
