Kelp Belgan (31 BBY — ) is a Mon Calamari officer in the New Republic Navy and captain of the Star Cruiser Antiphon. Belgan is highly regarded amongst his peers, but is known for his salty demeanor and penchance for condescending behaviour when dealing with others less experienced than himself. He was a bridge officer aboard the Home One and learned the tricks of the trade from the great Admiral Ackbar, but possesses none of the master tactician's diplomatic flair. He has lost several clutch-siblings over the years in the war with the Empire, and while he never discusses it, the weight of these losses visibly wears on him. He drives his ship hard and his crew even harder. He is less acerbic around his senior staff officers, several of which are fellow Mon Calamari, Quarren, or Selkath.
