Intermediate algebra is the next level of algebra after elementary algebra. At the secondary school level, typically one year is devoted to each of these courses, resulting in a two-year algebra sequence. This is often followed by a year of geometry. Intermediate algebra consists largely of the study of functions, relations, and their graphs. Sometimes this includes conic sections, sometimes not.
