His All-Holiness Nephon II of Constantinople, also Nifon II, was the Patriarch of Constantinople for two periods, from 1486 to 1488 and then from 1497 to 1498. He was called again, a third time in 1502, but refused the invitation. He was born on the Peloponnese peninsula of southern Greece. His mother was a noble Greek woman and his father a rich Albanian nobleman. He entered a monastic life as a monk at Epidaurus and later moved to Mount Athos. Before his election as patriarch, he was Archbishop of Thessalonica.
