Energy Pistols were weapons constructed by the Guardians of the Universe long ago after the Maltusians decided to champion the cause of stopping evil created as a result of Krona's actions. To achieve this goal, they decided to create a police force consisting of androids to act as their servitors in this goal. These machines became known as the Manhunters that were charged with stopping evil and criminals throughout the cosmos. To aid them in these tasks, the Oans crafted the Energy Pistols to serve as their primary weapons and charged by Power Batteries that were linked to the Central Power Battery on Oa. Armed with purpose and weapons, they departed in order to stop evil in the universe.
