The axle may be a Land Rover axle (it has brake drums) and it has been strengthened like a Roadless axle with a thick plate to forn the mounting bracket. Drive is taken from the top of the gearbox via a reduction and a Chain drive to drop down to below the box to align with the drive shaft to the differential.
