Thunderbird 1 is equipped with a Sonar Tracking System. The electronics pod is located in a bay on the underside of the craft. The sonar can be lowered into water to register life signs, and to measure depths and distances. This equipment was used in The Man From MI.5 to track the villains' submarine after one of them had stolen the plans of a nuclear device.
