Edwin Jones (c.1838 - 5 June 1916) was a businessman and politician. In 1867 he formed a partnership with George Randall Higgins, and they opened a drapers shop "Jones and Higgins" in Rye Lane, Peckham. The shop was rapidly expanded into a large department store, employing 350 people. In 1896 Jones and Higgins became a limited company. In 1892 Jones was head of a syndicate that acquired another major store "Bon Marché" in Brixton. In 1891 he donated a sum of money towards the opening up of Peckham Rye Park, and paid for the erection of an ornamental drinking fountain.
