The Kaladian thorn flower was a variety of plant that was grown in the plant biology lab aboard the USS Enterprise-D. In 2367, Doctor Balthus wanted to do a study on the laticifer ontogeny of the Kaladian thorn flower and asked Keiko O'Brien to oversee the project. O'Brien did not have the time to do so, however.
