She and a male colleague were on patrol in plain clothes when they purchased fire lighters after 7.00pm from Florrie Lindley in the Corner Shop, leading to Florrie being charged with breaking a local by-law. Actress Penelope Davis played the unnamed police officer in Episode 2. The character and the policeman who accompanied her were the first police officers to appear in Coronation Street.
