Mrs. Clive was the wife of Parson Clive who married Commander Hornblower and Maria Mason. Mrs. Clive escorted Maria's mother Mrs. Mason from the church after the ceremony because Lieutenant Bush disappeared, but, mustered the hands from the Hotspur to form a sword arch for the couple to walk under.
