The Hobbit is an 2020 American-British action adventure fantasy film based on the 1937 book of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien. The film is based on Tolkien's Middle-Earth and is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings film series, taking place before The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
