Captain Duncan Lewin CB CBE DSO DSC* was a British naval aviator who was involved in the Battle of the River Plate and attacks on the German battleship Tirpitz, and was an aircraft carrier commander during the Korean War. Lewin was born Edgar Duncan Goodenough Lewin in Farnham, Surrey on 9 August 1912. Lewin was a pilot on HMS Ajax during the Battle of the River Plate, where he reported on the movements of the Graf Spee, for which he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. He later took part in attacks on the German battleship Tirpitz before later in the war moving to the Far East.
