Nikotsu was a bandit leader who attacked peasant villages, killing the resident samurai and slaughtering the captive heimin. During the early reign of Toturi I he escaped from Toku and his men, only after the brigands had killed and injured several of the Imperials, including a wound he delivered to Toku's lieutenant, Tzurui.
