Champion is the three-legged dog that April Ludgate and Andy Dwyer adopted from the Pawnee animal shelter. Chris Traeger babysat Champion during April and Andy's honeymoon and, during this time, he managed to train the dog in German. Andy was at first jealous of Chris's bond with Champion but after seeing how much the dog helped his lonely mood, Andy invited Chris to spend as much time with Champion as he wanted.
