Gorion's Ward acquires the ability to open portals to and from the Pocket Plane early in the first chapter of Throne of Bhaal campaign. This ability provides a quick way to retreat from danger, as well as ready access to a safe haven where the player may resupply, use the service of Cespenar, heal, apply magic, replenish depleted spells, and otherwise recuperate.
